» Kickoff

By Yedoh Kang on Sunday, January 15, 2017

Kickoff was a blast! Excited members, mentors, alumni, coaches, and parents gathered in the theatre to watch the live stream of the unveil of FIRST Steamworks. (Did you see our team featured in the song?!?) After watching the live stream together, we ran through important parts of the game manual to get everyone familiar with the rules and the specifics. We then broke into groups to strategize, and discussed possible game plans. We finished off the day coming back together as a team and sharing our thoughts on what we discussed, and went home feeling excited for what the next six weeks would bring! StuyPulse wishes the best of luck to all teams, and we can’t wait to see all the cool, steaming robots on the field at competition!

» World Maker Faire 2016

By Lamia Bushra on Tuesday, October 04, 2016

This past weekend, StuyPulse members attended the World Maker Faire at the NY Hall of Science. There, we talked to people of all ages about what our robot does as well as last year’s game, FIRST Stronghold. We also demoed our robot to all who attended and engaged young children and adults alike by giving them a chance to operate it and shoot a high goal. StuyPulse members had an amazing and unforgettable experience, and we hope to be invited for many years to come!

» China Robotics Challenge 2016 Recap

By Nicole Shin on Tuesday, October 04, 2016

In August, StuyPulse was once again invited to the third CRC (China Robotics Challenge)! We flew with many other international teams to Shanghai to mentor rookie and pre-rookie Chinese teams and help finish building and programming their robots. Our team was assigned to mentor one rookie and one pre-rookie team. After a few days, the CRC competition began! In the international elimination round, we ended as the sixth alliance captain with Team 16 and Team 5308 on our alliance. We ended the round in quarterfinals, but in the only-Chinese-team elimination round, one of the rookie teams we mentored won! Next year, the first Shenzhen regional will be hosted in China, and we are excited for the Chinese teams to be able to finally play in their home country!
